Overview

Freshness note: Model capabilities, limits, lifecycle dates, and pricing can change quickly. This profile is a point-in-time snapshot last verified on June 8, 2026.

Veo 3 is Google’s stable API route for cinematic prompt-driven video generation with native audio. It is still documented on Gemini API pricing and video pages, but Google’s deprecation table now lists veo-3.0-generate-001 and veo-3.0-fast-generate-001 with shutdown marked “Coming soon.”

Capabilities

The model supports text/image-to-video workflows, synchronized audio output, higher-quality motion synthesis, scene generation, and creative direction iteration. It remains relevant for existing integrations, but new Google video work should evaluate Veo 3.1 Preview or Veo 3.1 Lite Preview first.

Technical Details

Veo 3 is video-native, so this repository stores contextWindow and maxOutput as 0 intentionally and renders them as N/A.

Current documented API IDs:

  • veo-3.0-generate-001
  • veo-3.0-fast-generate-001

Google’s video docs list text and image input, video-with-audio output, a 1,024-token text input limit, and one output video.

Pricing & Access

Google’s current Gemini API pricing lists Veo 3 Standard video with audio at 0.40persecond.Veo3Fastislistedat0.40 per second. Veo 3 Fast is listed at 0.10 per second for 720p, 0.12persecondfor1080p,and0.12 per second for 1080p, and 0.30 per second for 4K.

The deprecation table recommends veo-3.1-generate-preview as the replacement for veo-3.0-generate-001 and veo-3.1-lite-generate-preview as the replacement for veo-3.0-fast-generate-001.

Best Use Cases

Best for maintaining existing Veo 3 integrations while planning migration. For new storyboard ideation, campaign concept videos, early scene direction exploration, and creative prototyping, start with Veo 3.1.

Comparisons

Compared with Veo 3.1, Veo 3 is the older stable API route and now carries deprecation risk. Compared with Sora 2, Veo 3 remains more Google-ecosystem oriented. Compared with Runway generation tiers, differences usually center on control interfaces, production tooling, and provider integration.
