Overview

This is a model family overview. For version-specific details, see the individual model entries linked below.

Veo is Google’s video generation family used in both developer-facing API workflows and creator-facing tooling such as Flow. It is positioned for structured video synthesis tasks where native audio, controllability, iteration speed, and pipeline integration matter.

Current Lineup

As of June 8, 2026, the active Gemini API Veo family center is Veo 3.1 Preview, Veo 3.1 Fast Preview, and Veo 3.1 Lite Preview. Google’s deprecation page lists the older stable Veo 3 API endpoints with shutdown marked “Coming soon” and recommends Veo 3.1 replacements.

Strengths

  • API availability for productized text-to-video and image-to-video workloads.
  • Strong ecosystem fit with Google’s creative and developer surfaces.
  • Native synchronized audio in current Veo 3 and Veo 3.1 lanes.
  • Useful for storyboarding, ad-concept previsualization, explainer drafts, and rapid motion ideation.
  • Clear model identifiers on official pricing, model, and deprecation pages.

When to Choose Veo

Choose Veo when you need Google API integration for video generation and want to combine video creation with Gemini-native image or reasoning workflows under one provider stack. For new builds, evaluate Veo 3.1 before using older Veo 3 routes.
