Gemini Pro is the high-capability tier in Google’s Gemini family. It is designed for complex reasoning, professional coding, and tasks that benefit from very large context windows. The family now spans a current premium preview lane and older stable compatibility routes, which is the cleanest way to describe it without overfitting to Google’s fast-moving app and plan copy.

Current Latest

Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview is the current premium Gemini API reference. Gemini 2.5 Pro is still callable for compatibility, but Google’s deprecation table lists an October 16, 2026 shutdown date and names Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview as the recommended replacement. That makes the current choice less “stable versus preview” and more “new premium preview versus older endpoint with a dated migration path.”
